Today is 8th of Nov. moi dear friend, Teo Char Char's bd.. poor gal..
I'm exactly 18 days away from my freedom, meanwhile, i decided to be intellectual and read Sinagpore's The Straits Times. Here's what i learnt:
8th Nov 2004 "Mr China"
Do you guys even know China exist? no? Nah.. how can that be? i mean, who else will be going around thinking they are forever in the center of the earth - which is true in a sense since these mountain turtles never step out of their rice fields nor dare to denounce Maoism by doing so. Still working towards Communist Utopia? Probably so - most of them at least.
Here's how they still think so highly of themselves:
Our dear Comrades are damn proud of their Chinese Heritage. If u are working in China or are investing in her, or are even thinking of doing so, BEWARE. They'll quit as and when they like as long as they feel that you don't understand them. note: keyword here is "they" meaning to say, what they understand about you is not important as long as you understand them completely. They probably doesnt give a *toot* -censored- about you. That's the caution given to wanna-be businessmen who are thinking of investing in there. The current (as well as consistent) problem in doing business there is the persistent cultural clashes. Such that even high-flyers with degrees (from University of Beijing which ranked just above NUS - yeah, i know, you wonder why) job-hops every now and then because they feel that their foreign bosses do not understand them, common complain? "You don't understand China!" Fine then, work ur ass off ur rice fields and eat off bamboo shoots. No wonder the Pandas are endangered.
This is one big problem faced FDIs in China - high turn-over rate discourages FDIs as it is very costly to have to rebuild their client networks - esp when Chinese workers quit w/o warning. To win them over, as mentioned, u must understand them very well. They do not like it when you show distaste to their stupid stinky backward culture. i.e you must embrace Mao as your China Idol (where only one contestant is allowed and no negative comments shld be given even though he croaks.) and able to recite the contents of "the little red book". nah.. not to that extent, no red book is needed as long as you try to live like them - refrain from washing ur undies and take only power bath the most once a week, talk as loudly as you can in public and spit anywhere you like. There! U have it.. easy? yeah. And u think globalization will make them realise they are at no center of the earth, you're wrong. They still very much think that they are right. This is their Utopia. :)
Yep.. this is one interesting thing i learnt from the news. And i'm NOT fabricating it! A little evaluation on moi part..just a little.
Good insights eh? Straits Times is so right.

Therefore,
I shall leave u in peace, allowing glistly gross green moss to cover u so as to shelter you from the melting rays of the sun.
I shall leave u in peace, allowing no one but the birds of the air, and the silent fellow graves to accompany you to where u were originally destinied to be.
Thank You. -wipes away her tears w a hankie-
she puts down her economic books, notes, essays. lighted a flame. Toss the matchstick on the pile of rubbish which lay at her legs. She watches with glee as the flames engulf her dearest friend she cringed, as it distort the flesh. the burning smell. heavy smoke now surround the calm atmosphere.Yes, how it spelled liberation.
The songbirds were singing
the sky brightens up.
All was well.
the Slave was free.
