bleah, very 1st exam of my 2nd semester.. HL803, Cinematic Pleasures and Question of Identity. Cinematic pleasures, yes, identity, no. I'm kinda disapppointed that i couldnt do the question involving my Favorite Movie - In The Mood For Love.

In The Mood For Love, a MUST-SEE movie. a cantonese Movie directed by Wong Kah-Wai, it relates how a couple-played by Tony Leong (omg! he is DAMN SEXY!) and Maggie Cheung- found out their own spouses' affair with each other. Themes of loneliness, longing for the past, longing for love, longing for what they desire, all brought about through Nat King Cole's Sensual songs and Micheal Galasso's hunting, slow romantic music. A creative way of portraying erotism of the couple's physical attraction to each other without the use of blatant bare-it-all-sex like those in a typical Hollywood film. and the music and songs - heavenly to your ears.

Sigh.

If there is any comfort, it will be my 2nd favorite - Gentlemen Prefers Blondes. a Marilyn Manroe Movie, sexy, cool and yeah.. feminist. I love feminist films, if there was any identification in it- it'd be that i am a feminist too. Writing an essay talking about feminism in the film wasnt so bad after all. Besides, i love it when they show our girl power, shame to all the MCPs out there! - they can go suck an egg! (insult quoted from Mary Ann)

and there was the most boring essay i've ever written (on films and art)- 12 Storeys. Eric Khoo really brought his messages across from the way Singapore was portrayed in the 3 heartlander families. Even writing about this film came across as boring as the meritocracy system and its beaucracies. Talk about the elitist attitudes, the repressed "perfect citizen" and yeah apathetic youth. BORING! Perhaps the only exciting aspect of this essay was the issue of Incest in a conservative society- but that has little or nothing to do with the rest of my essays on the boring system.

now i've stuck in revision for Electronic Broadcast Media. Man, doesn't the mention of it just scares you? It sounds boring, looks boring, IS boring. Media ownership regulations on SEA was the LAST thing i wanna do.. What other better things to do other than reading those?

ta da! u see me blog dont u? that explains it.
